Tashkent Airport in 1990-ies

I first came to Uzbekistan in the distant 1991, and my acquaintance with the city of Tashkent started with the Tashkent airport. This city was not the final destination of my trip, I flew in from Moscow and just did transfer to another plane, so I almost did not go into the city, waiting for my flight. My temporary abode was the airport. The flight was delayed and I, like other people, had more than a day to kill the time walking from corner to corner. I do not know why, but at that time passengers were not offered comfortable conditions for recreation, and we had to spend the night on uncomfortable chairs.

In front of me one Indian tried to sleep. But he couldn't not find comfortable position, so he shrugged and looked at me with sleepy eyes, shook his head sympathetically. So, complaining to each other our fate, we got to talking, and fellow-sufferer told me that he is engaged in business, and come here to buy electrical cable, and then transport it to his home to sell. We talked a little and then dispersed to our places.

At night, I felt like someone pushed me in the shoulder. I woke up and saw the face of this new acquaintance. The first thing that occurred to me, it's that the flight to Delhi was announced, so I quickly began to slide from my chair in time to prepare my things, but to my surprise Indian shook his head.

- I just wanted to ask, - in broken Russian he said the phrase, - perhaps you accidentally know what you have in Odessa the prices for aluminum? This question caught me by surprise. For me even on broad daylight is difficult to give clear reply on this topic, but at night that was completely impossible. Indus smiled in disappointment and walked away.

The next morning I was awakened, not far from me have been talking loudly two men. It was the same my friend and a Hindu man from my group. I could hear snatches of conversation, of which I understood that the Indian interest in the sale of copper, and my compatriot, gives him good advice "how, what, where and with whom" it is possible to buy or sell.

Now Tashkent Airport is the airport of European level, where all the conditions for transit passengers are available, which employs qualified personnel and available high-quality service. You will always be welcomed with joy and traditional eastern hospitality.
