Tashkent is the capital of Uzbekistan, the main town of the former Turkestan (now Central Asia).
Tashkent is the largest city in Uzbekistan and Central Asia in terms of population, the most important air, rail and road hub, as well as political, economic, cultural and scientific center of the country.
Tashkent City has two airports: Tashkent International Airport and Tuzel. Also there are two railway stations. Since 1977, the capital of Uzbekistan has Metro.
The leading industry in Tashent is mechanical engineering. Also developed are cotton, knitwear, footwear production as well as construction, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food industries.
Some historical monuments are preserved in Tashkent, including the Mausoleum of Sheikh Zaynudin and the Mausoleum of Sheikhantaur.
