Asian Development Bank has confirmed the forecast for Uzbekistan GDP growth by 7%

The Asian Development Bank has left unchanged forecast of GDP growth in Uzbekistan in 2009 by 7%. In 2010 the Uzbekistan GDP growth is predicted at 6,5%.

According to the bank's annual report Asian Development Outlook 2009 Update, the Uzbekistan government promptly reacted to the global economic slowdown and falling export prices for raw materials, adopting a large-scale anti-crisis program, which yielded positive results.

As reported by Prime-Tass, experts of the Asian Development Bank believe that the increase in capitalization of the six major commercial banks has helped to increase the volume of lending in rural areas. Implementation of the investment program contributed to the growth of industrial production and construction works.

Specialists of the Asian Development Bank also confirmed their previous forecast for inflation in Uzbekistan: in 2009 it will be 12,5%. At the same time, the forecast for inflation in Uzbekistan for 2010 is lowered from 13% to 11%.
